A small, beautifully crafted bird sits on the spout of the kettle and whistles when the contents boil. It's made with 18/10 stainless steel in the body. Stainless steel is an alloy, meaning it's a mixture of metals. 18 refers to the amount of chromium which makes it more resistant to staining and corrosion, 10 refers to the amount of nickel which makes the metal gleam more brightly. So that means 18/10 stainless-steel is a very good quality stainless steel

He has created over 800 designs for stores such as Target, ranging from a tea kettle to toilet brushes, but it's the Alessi Kettle for which he is best known. He initially received a brief from Alberto Alessi to design a sterling silver tea service - with a teapot, a coffee pot, sugar, creamer, a spoon, and a tray. It didn't matter if it didn't work and cost wasn't the issue as it was designed to be a promotional project, not a commercial enterprise. His "coffee and tea piazza" as it was known received great acclaim.
From these beginning, the Alessi Kettle went on to become a sought after piece, adorning millions of kitchens around the world.
