What To Look For When Hiring An Asphalt Resurfacing In Carefree Contractor

By Melody Lyons

If your tar driveway appears to be in bad shape it might be time to call an asphalt resurfacing in Carefree contractor and ask for an estimate. The driveway might need simple repairs, or the blacktop might have to be torn up and replaced with a new blacktop. Tar driveways, unfortunately, do not last forever.

A driveway will remain in good condition longer if steps are taken to protect the tar from heat and ultra violet rays. Oil, gas, and grease, break down the tar, as does rain. This is why it is important to seal the surface with tar protection compound at least once a year to protect the upper layer.

The surface will eventually develop cracks, become worn out and corroded. Cracks allow water to seep under the layers causing breakdown in the foundation. If more than twenty five percent of the surface is in need of repair, then it is cost effective to pour a hot mix tar compound over the entire driveway.

In cold climates, freeze cycles can be destructive to the tar layer because water, in the cracks freezes, and expands causing wider cracks. The larger the crack the more serious the damage the tar sustains. If cracks are not repaired, the pavement will suffer serious deterioration and the pavement will have to be replaced.

Whether or not the pavement needs replacing depends on the base layers and the condition of the foundation. If more than seventy five percent of the surface is cracked, then the driveway has to be replaced. If a driveway has been resurfaced, but still keeps cracking, there is probably a weakness in the foundation.

Hire a licensed asphalt resurfacing in Carefree contractor who warranties his work and is bonded. Have all work listed in the contract and specify that the driveway be adjusted for proper drainage. The contract should specify that the sub grade, before the base layer is applied, be compacted.
